Something New
Focusing on developing a positive aspect of one's life can achieve a goal more easily than by trying to give up the negative habit. After all, it seems to be easier to take on something new than to give up something old! The old way often falls away out of disuse.
Great book to read if you are 45+
You could actually read this book at any age – especially if you are overweight. “Younger next year for Women” by Chris Crowley and Henry S Lodge MD. The original version was aimed at men. The science makes sense although you may not like the exercise message – basically if we are sedentary the body doesn’t understand that it is not famine time. Both authors look much younger than they actually are so it’s either luck or the science!! Anyway – it’s an entertaining and informative book and I would recommend you all get a copy and read and inwardly digest.
Younger Next Year Email Group
I am thinking about organising an email group where people who want to follow the advice in the above book and want tips/help from a group situation could join. Is there anyone who would be interested? Let me know. Who knows – it may grow into a group that actually meets/exercises together?!
Weight loss and liver health
New research has shown that all the diets in the world will be pretty useless if your liver is performing underpar. Studies clearly indicate that moderately obese people often suffer from liver dysfunction and don’t know it. Other studies show that when you lose weight your liver function improves – so is it the chicken or the egg? Does carrying more weight put extra strain on your liver or does having a liver that doesn’t work very well mean you are more likely to put on weight? If you are wanting to lose weight it would be worth checking your liver health out. This can be easily done in a kinesiology session.
You can help your liver by drinking plenty of filtered water (tap water puts more strain on the liver as it has to filter out the chemicals), avoid low protein diets, poor nutrition, extreme low calorie diets, alcohol and hormone disorders. Your liver may also need extra help if you take the pill, HRT or any other drugs. If you are wanting to put in a water filter tap then phone Aquacure on 01704 516916.
Having problems with your hair?
If your hair is not as lovely as it once was then maybe your shampoos are to blame. Some ingredients, such as sodium laurel sulphate, in regular shampoos strip your hair so it is a good idea to find one that doesn’t have these in. Also there are supplements that you can take that help improve the condition of your hair – look for products with horsetail, rosemary, dulse, silica and sage.
In fact Natural Elements are offering a great organic summer holiday kit for £24.99 in a wash bag. This includes a Eucalyptus and Juniper shower gel, a Lemon and Asparagus protein body lotion, a Wild Mint and Rosemary hair shampoo and a Lemongrass hair conditioner. All 250mls.
Holidays! I am on holiday from 23rd June to 9th July.
Thought for the day: “Opportunities come by creation, not by chance.”
P.S. If you are new to the list and would like back issues please email me. Also if you know of someone who would like to receive these please let me know. Thanks.
