National Garden Scheme

Tomorrow (Saturday 12th July) Price’s Lane Allotments in Wrexham are holding an open day from 11 am until 6 pm under the National Garden Scheme - the Yellow Book.

Admission will be £3 which will go to the NGS charities. There will be a plant stall, the allotment shop is opening for people to buy compost etc at very competitive prices, there will be a range of products from the Isle of Wight Garlic company to buy, we will also have information about composting etc from Wrexham Council and of course you will be able to walk around the allotments and see what we get up to.

It will be a great day out, hope to see you there.

Mastectomy Lingerie & Swimwear

Ladies who used to go to Warrington for specialist lingerie and swimwear can now go to Llangollen. The new shop called Silk & Honey is at 38 Berwyn Street. They have a web address but I’m not sure if it’s fully up and running yet. www.silkandhoney.co.uk Please pass this on to anyone you know who has had a mastectomy. Apparently the lady who runs it is lovely, has experienced breast cancer herself and is hoping to do themed evenings as well as regular fittings. After her experience she realised that she still needed to feel sexy and feminine but found items difficult to find locally. So she has started her own shop! 01978 862993

Research snippets

Airline food linked to jet lag! Apparently the food related body clock can override the light related body clock so we can avoid jet lag by not eating on the flight. The Professor does go on to say that optimally we would need to fast for 16 hours to ensure that the food clock doesn’t override the light clock – I’m not sure I can go that long – I don’t know about you!!! I’ll keep doing my point stimulation to reset my body clock which works just fine!

British stiff upper lip is best! Research carried out after the terrorists’ attacks in America have found to their surprise that those who did not want to talk about their feelings and experiences recovered much more quickly than those who did. Reading between the lines I think we can see that people who tend to dwell on bad experiences will take longer than those who deal with it quickly and move on. Maybe this is why counseling doesn’t always work – going over and over bad stuff is just not good for us. Deal with it and move on!

Frankincense essential oil for depression and anxiety – researchers have found that hippies, the 3 wise men and high church vicars may have been right all along – burning incense really can lift your soul. Apparently the resin, found in most church incense mixes stimulates the channels that can alleviate anxiety and depression. It definitely lowers the heart rate and breathing putting people in a better place for prayer or meditation. And apparently the Israelites used to add it to wine given to condemned prisoners to numb their senses. I’m sure this was back in biblical times – I hope!

Thought for Today – Your Lucky Day
Forget mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it. Today is your lucky day.

Have a great weekend.
